This is a project made in collaboration with Sergio Mora-Diaz. We wish to create a mechanism that emulates a motion from nature through waves and oscillation. Many simple moving parts that create an overall, fluid look.
We are using a system of 100 vertical pins designed to move up and down, as they follow the edge of different round cams attached to shafts. This will convert rotary motion into linear motion. Ten shafts will move at the same time using a belt driven mechanism, and the whole system will be activated through a crank at the side of the machine enclosure.
In the future we would like to expand this project using a motor instead of the crank, as well as adding an interactive component through the use of sensors to map different kinds of motion.
